Diabetic pregnant women and their children benefit from an intensive treatment of diabetes mellitus

The prestigious New England Journal of Medicine recently published an article entitled “Effect of treatment of gestational diabetes mellitus on pregnancy outcomes” in which the authors of plants known whether treatment of women with gestational diabetes reduced the risk of complications Prenatal.

The main findings of this study were that treatment of gestational diabetes reduced serious prenatal morbidity, ie the onset of disease or serious prenatal complications, and improved quality of life related to health of women treated. The treatment of this disease benefited the fetus and improved quality of life after the mother, without increasing the risk of caesarean section.

Pregnant women who develop diabetes during pregnancy should follow strict medical care for themselves and their children.
