Post-partum depression is not influenced by the form of birth

A recent English work, entitled “Party operative and post-natal depression: a cohort study, published in the journal British Medical Journal, concludes that there is no reason for women at risk of postnatal depression are treated differently in the way of birth.

The researchers had proposed to evaluate the association between elective caesarean section and postnatal depression compared with planned vaginal delivery and whether emergency caesarean section or assisted vaginal delivery or instrumental associated with postnatal depression compared with vaginal delivery spontaneous.

The findings of the study of nearly 15,000 women who were elective caesarean section does not protect against postnatal depression. Women who want to have a vaginal delivery and ultimately require them to practice a caesarean section or instrumental delivery can be assured that there is no reason to believe they have a higher risk of postnatal depression.
