Sun and skin cancer
For most of us like to go outdoors in summer. The sun not only improves our appearance, but it makes us feel better. However, it is important to remember that ultraviolet rays from sunlight can damage the cells of our skin. In particular, it is important to avoid burning in the sun because over time, can accumulate small lesions caused by sunburn. This in future may become a skin cancer or melanoma. The number of cases of skin cancer has doubled in recent decades.

Sol between fogs
The number of skin cancers has increased significantly at the end of this century due to increased unprotected exposure to harmful UV rays of the sun.

Tanning is a natural process. When the skin is exposed to the sun is pigmentation as a protection against harmful UV rays of sunlight. However, this protection is lost during the winter, so remember to take special care in the spring when the skin is pale and unprotected. Remember that being tan does not guarantee not to develop skin cancer later.

What are the warning signs?
* Excess skin temperature or warming: cool it is difficult even with water in the bathroom.
* Redness normally is not seen at first, due to its gradual introduction. Its appearance may be reflected by pressing the fingertip into the skin, for example in the shoulder. Lifting the finger to show a white zone. If you blush again quickly, you may have been exposed to the sun too long.
* Pain: low intensity at first.

The importance of skin types
Sunburn can be avoided by following some basic rules for each type of skin in particular. Choose a statement below that best describes your skin type. Imagine you are sunbathing in spring for the first time without using sunscreen.
* Type 1: I always burn without reaching a tan.
* Type 2: after an hour in the sun of spring, I feel a little burned the next day. After seven days, I am somewhat tan.
* Type 3: One hour after being exposed to the sun of spring, I feel slightly burnt the next day. After seven days, I am moderately tanned.
* Type 4: I never feel burnt after one hours exposed to the sun. After seven days, I am very tan.

How can you avoid sunburn?
Skin type 1
Avoid full sun and be sure to cover all bare skin with clothing when exposed to sunlight. You can not tan and if you try to do so will damage the skin, which may then become even skin cancer. Remember that thin and pale skin does not age as fast as other types of fur. His friends have tanned wrinkles much earlier than you.

Skin type 2
You should not try to tan and be careful with the sun. The sunbathing can cause skin damage, which can be converted later into skin cancer. If you can not completely avoid sun exposure, use a sunscreen with high protection factor (SPF 15-20) in the summer. At the end of the season, you can use a sunscreen with a sun protection factor of not less than 8.

Skin type 3
You should use a sunscreen with a high SPF for a couple of weeks before switching to another with a lower FPS (over 8). Also at risk of developing skin cancer and should be careful while exposed to the sun.

Skin type 4
You should use a sunscreen with SPF 8. Will continue to tan, although much less than without the sunscreen. The chances of developing skin cancer are lower than in those with a skin type 1, 2 or 3, but the sun can still damage skin and cause premature wrinkles.

Young children often enjoy the sun and want to spend more time outside than adults. However, they are very sensitive to sunlight and should be protected.

Perfumes and medicines when we took the sun
Some medications (tetracycline) can cause hypersensitivity to sunlight. Patients taking these drugs run the risk of developing severe eczema and spots on the skin if they take the sun. Consult your doctor or pharmacist before sunbathing if you are medicated. Certain perfumes and creams without some perfume may also have the same effects. To be safe, avoid the use of different products to the sunscreen when exposed to sunlight. Read the prospectus and instructions for use and always consult your doctor or pharmacist.

FPS numbers are different from Americans in Europe
There are two types of systems to specify a protection sunscreen: American and European system. Generally, the numbers of FPS Americans are twice that of European products. A sunscreen with SPF 8 American equivalent to European FPS 4. Remember to check what system you are using when you buy a sunscreen and check with your pharmacist if you have any questions.

What you should know about sunscreens?
The starting point of the European system of FPS is the time period in which the pale skins of the inhabitants of northern Europe may be exposed to the sun without redness or sensitivity, usually 20 minutes at the beginning of the season. For example, applying a sunscreen of SPF 8 means that the skin is exposed to the sun for 8 x 20 minutes (160 minutes) without burning.

Remember that sunscreens only protect the skin from burns. Do not avoid the effects of harmful rays can cause skin cancer.

For the protection factor indicated on the product, be sure to follow these rules:
* You must apply a thin layer (1-1 ½ mm) cream for the protection provided.
* The effect of sunscreen was significantly reduced after one to two hours in the sun.
* To protect the skin thoroughly, cover with clothing or apply a cream called solar screen, given its high degree of protection from solar rays and which usually contain titanium dioxide.
* Remember that even on a cloudy day, between 30 and 50% of solar UV radiation reaches the skin, so you may get burned.
* You can not feel the sun’s rays to power when the wind thus masks the effect that their actions feel to the skin.
* Swimming makes the skin more sensitive to sunlight. Use a lotion or a water-resistant product with liposomes. They penetrate further into the skin and protect from the inside. Return to always apply sunscreen after swimming.
* Sweat can dissolve the sunscreen: be careful especially after vigorous physical activity or if you sweat easily.
* The sunscreen is completely safe, but some people may be allergic to fragrance ingredients or preservatives.
* A bath and brief intense sun can be very damaging, even to contribute to the development of skin cancer and malignant melanoma.
* Remember that the sun’s rays are strongest from 11:00 until 15:00 hours on any day of the year.

What steps can be taken to relieve sunburn?
* Brush the sunburned area with warm water (25 ° C) for 30 minutes at a time and apply sunscreen again after drying.
* Be especially careful when burning the cool kids.
* Apply a gel to relieve the pain of the kind made specifically for after-sun (after sun). If the skin is very red, it may be necessary to use some type of treatment, such as ointments to low concentrations of steroids such as hydrocortisone 1%. Always consult your doctor beforehand.

Contact a doctor if…
* The skin becomes red and painful too.
* We are blisters or rashes.
* A small child has been burned in the sun.
* Fever, intense nausea, vomiting, prostration in bed, muscle cramps or diarrhea.
* The mental status of the person is not the usual symptoms such as dizziness or confusion.
