The breathing exercise is a part of the ancient yoga practice. It is supposed to be the secret of Yoga popularly known as pranayama, which is a Sanskrit word meaning controlling of one’s breathing or can be considered as breathing exercise. It is believed that our whole body, mind and soul are connected through our breathing. Breathing is the essence of everything and by controlling and monitoring the breathing one can monitor all the emotions and feelings, both the physical and mental state.

As we know that salvia is a smoked herb, which acts as an entheogen and can take an individual on a spiritual trip within where the person gets in out of the world experience. As a matter of fact both pranayama and smoking salvia divinorum extract means to make a person realize the truth of the world and the presence of the divine being within. Thus when salvia is inhaled along with controlled and monitored breathings, the effect of breath monitoring is enhanced and the person begins to feel varied emotions attached to the breathing pace. In that state when the individual is in some other world, the non-consensus reality, he/she can vary his/her emotions that are usually overwhelming, by just monitoring breathing or what we call breathing exercise.

Therefore we can say that salvia can act as a catalyst to the process of pranayama or breathe monitoring or breathing exercise. Before going in for pranayama, one needs to understand the reason for considering pranayama as the secret of yoga. Prana means breathe which is the connecting wire between body and soul. The pace of our breathing is the resultant combination of mind, body and soul. All our emotions are intimately related to our breathing. Thus breathing exercise or pranayama can be the starting step towards salvation. Meditation also starts with breath monitoring. Now as salvia smoking can take an individual to an experience similar to deep meditation, thus we can say that salvia can enhance the effect of paranayama and make it an easier and a faster process.

Owing to these special properties of salvia divinorum it has been given various pious names like Mary’s herb, sheperdess’ herb or herb of the sheperdess’. Thus, we can say that all these are techniques or ways that kind of brings a person closer to the divine being and make him/her feel his divine presence. Pranayama is an old method, tested for over millions of years, of bringing oneself closer to GOD, the divine being who is supposed to be within us. It helps us introspect into our own selves in order to know the truth and activate all your powers.

Salvia is herb provided by nature that can get you similar experience as gained through deep meditation. Thus we can say that salvia can increase the pace of an individuals’ spiritual journey which traditionally starts with breathing exercise and breathing monitoring techniques followed by practice of meditation and the final state is call “Samadhi”.
