What is rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is a surgery that changes the shape and size of the nose is probably the most common surgical procedure in plastic surgery, and certainly the most complex.

For what reasons we reconstruct a nose?
Aesthetic reasons
There are similar within a family, but no two faces alike. Racial factors affect the characteristics of the nose, face size and shape differences between individuals of different races. For functional reasons
Injuries (assaults, sports, industrial accidents, etc…) Can lead to numerous deformities. Deviations and any obstructions can cause recurrent infections (sinusitis, rhinitis, obits, etc.)… Not to mention the snoring.

What determines the intervention?
* The consultation should establish the necessary understanding between the surgeon and the future operator.
* Aesthetic Rhinoplasty should be a personal requirement, without external influences, as to the precise deformations that are to be corrected and the result.
* The rhinoplasty for functional reasons should be done when the surgeon, after assessing the patient feels that surgical intervention can improve their problems.
* Photo may show examples of similar cases that will facilitate the understanding by the patient of the procedure used.

What should I do before surgery?
Before surgery:
* If the patient decides to run, making his case should be planned several photographs of the nose from different viewpoints (front, side, down, etc.).
* To assess the patient’s facial aesthetics together and plan the surgical technique to be used.
* In addition, an analysis with preoperative blood and cardiovascular, as well as the necessary consultation anesthetic in order to detect any possible contraindications for the intervention.

What is the procedure?
The duration of the operation is highly variable depending on the complexity of the surgical technique and type of deformity in the patient, general anesthesia usually is local (patient awake) in selected cases.
* The incisions are made inside the nostrils (pilosa area in which the air enters the nostrils), supplemented or not, according to the technique used with external incisions.
* After taking off the skin and mucous membranes, the surgeon isolates the structures you want to modify and remodel to get the desired result. Place the brick in the center of the nose or cut part of it, allowing a good entry of air into both nostrils.

What happens after surgery?
The result should be considered after several weeks or months of operation, and is usually favorable if there has been a good plan. It is strongly any trauma or pressure are minimal, as lead glasses (contact lenses are recommended) or sleeping on the side or abdomen. Avoid sun exposure for at least a month and a half or two months after the operation. It is advisable to visit the surgeon according to his instructions, if necessary by a surgical touch-back, or quickly discover and treat any complications.
