Identified genes that promote the spread of breast cancer to the lungs Researchers at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, led by Joan Massage Spanish, recently published in the prestigious journal Nature a study in which we are informed they have identified a group of genes that enable breast cancer spreads and grow in the lungs.

It is actually a group of genes that act as markers and the median breast cancer metastasis to the lungs. Some of these genes act in dual role, providing growth advantages both in the primary breast tumor in the lung microenvironment. Others contribute to aggressive growth selectively in the lung.

The researchers hope these findings will enable clinicians to study the biopsies of breast cancer in relation to the activity of specific genes, which in turn will allow an early diagnosis and specific treatment of those tumors of the breast is spread and cause metastases in the lung.

Little by little we are trapped in this terrible problem that affects many women, hoping to overcome in the not too distant future.
